Virgin Media M350 Fibre Broadband offers average speeds of 362Mbps download and 36Mbps upload through Virgin’s own network. It is the next step up from M250 and remains slower than M500.
There is enough bandwidth for a busy home, including simultaneous streaming, gaming and remote working. Price is the deciding factor. If M500 costs the same or only slightly more over the full contract, choose M500.
M350 is suitable if
- its total contract cost is lower than M500 and you do not need M500’s additional speed
- you want faster large downloads while several people stream, play games or make video calls
M350 is unsuitable if
- M500 or Gig1 costs the same or only slightly more
- M250 already delivers all the bandwidth your household needs

Virgin calls this package Fibre Broadband. Across a large part of its network, coaxial cable still carries the final connection into the home. Receiving M350 over full fibre mainly changes the installation method and the upload options available. The order summary identifies the network used at your premises.

M350 cost over 24 months
The first monthly price in the Deal column is an introductory rate, not the average cost across the contract.
A 24-month Virgin contract started now includes two April price increases. The setup charge also forms part of the total. Deduct switching credit only when it is included with the deal you order.
Use the calculator to find the total contract cost and effective monthly cost. Enter the three monthly prices from the Deal column, your starting month, the setup charge and any credit you will receive.

Virgin rises in April. Change the prices if your checkout shows different figures. Credit only counts if you will actually receive it.
Virgin charges a substantially higher out-of-contract price if you remain after month 24 without agreeing to another deal. Arrange a new Virgin contract before the minimum term ends or switch through One Touch Switch.
Existing customers receive separate renewal prices through My Virgin Media. The prices above apply to new customers.
Is M350 enough — or should you choose another plan?
Choose M350 if you want large downloads to complete faster while other people continue streaming, gaming or making video calls. Its total contract cost should also be lower than M500.
Choose M250 if your household will not use the additional download capacity. Its average 264Mbps download speed is sufficient for most two- to four-person homes.
Choose M500 or Gig1 if either costs the same as M350 or only slightly more. M500 increases the average speeds to 516Mbps download and 52Mbps upload. Gig1 raises them to 1,130Mbps download and 104Mbps upload.
The extra upload capacity is most useful for cloud backups, large file transfers and outgoing video. Gig2 is a separate 2Gb product.
M350 speeds: Ethernet vs Wi-Fi
The average 362Mbps download speed is measured to the hub during the evening peak between 8pm and 10pm. It is not a guaranteed result for every connection.
Your order summary contains a separate minimum guaranteed download speed. A figure of 181Mbps to the hub is typical for M350. If repeated Ethernet tests remain below the stated minimum and Virgin cannot repair the connection, you can have the right to leave without an early termination charge. Wi-Fi test results do not count.
For an accurate test:
- Connect a computer directly to the hub with an Ethernet cable.
- Test the connection during the evening peak.
- Compare the speeds in different rooms over Wi-Fi afterwards.
The Virgin Media Hub 5 uses Wi-Fi 6 and can deliver the full M350 speed at close range with a compatible device. Distance, interference and masonry walls reduce Wi-Fi performance.
WiFi Max is an optional extra and forms part of selected Volt deals. It guarantees the minimum room speed stated in the offer or gives you a bill credit if Virgin fails to deliver it. The guarantee does not promise 362Mbps in every room.
Cable-based M350 comes with a fully 36Mbps upload speed. That is 11Mbps more than M250, rather than a major change in upload capacity. It is sufficient for everyday video calls, but simultaneous cloud backups and outgoing video streams must share the same 36Mbps connection.
A faster-upload add-on is available at selected Virgin full-fibre premises. If the option does not appear during your order, expect a fully 36Mbps upload speed.
M350 vs BT, Sky and a local altnet
| M350 | BT / Sky / Plusnet ~300–500Mbps | Altnet ~300–500Mbps | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Download | 362Mbps | 300–500Mbps | Often 300–500Mbps; some plans are symmetrical |
| Upload | 36Mbps | Usually more than 36Mbps on Openreach full fibre | Often equal to the download speed |
| Coverage | Virgin-served premises only | Available where Openreach full fibre reaches the premises | Restricted to the areas reached by each network |
M350 offers good value when its full contract cost is lower than the next Virgin package. Households that regularly send large files should also compare the upload speeds available from Openreach providers and local full-fibre networks.
Leaving, moving or staying
- A new order includes a 14-day cooling-off period.
- After the cooling-off period, Virgin requires 30 days’ notice and charges an early termination fee if time remains on the minimum term.
- One Touch Switch applies to most transfers to another provider.
- You can move the service only if Virgin serves the new premises. Early termination charges can still apply when Virgin is unavailable there, so confirm the cost before committing to the move.
- The current contract terms include April price increases.

Volt, WiFi Max and TV
You do not need any of these extras to take M350.
Volt is relevant to households with an eligible O2 mobile account. Include the mobile charge when calculating the complete package cost.
Flex TV is a rolling add-on, while Mega TV includes a wider selection of television services. Compare the full bundle cost with the broadband-only total before adding television. Package details are available on our Virgin Media broadband and TV page.
How M350 is installed
If an active Virgin cable connection already reaches the premises, you can often install the service yourself using the supplied hub and coaxial socket.
A first connection or a new full-fibre installation requires an engineer visit. Your premises determine whether Virgin uses cable or full fibre; the M350 plan name does not determine the connection type.
Virgin Media M350 FAQs
How much does M350 cost over 24 months?
Use the calculator with the monthly prices and setup charge shown in the Deal column. Include switching credit only when it forms part of your order.
Is 36Mbps upload enough for working from home?
Yes, for video calls, VPN access and document transfers. If several people regularly upload large files together, compare Gig1 or a full-fibre provider offering faster uploads.
Why is Wi-Fi slower than 362Mbps?
The average speed and minimum guarantee apply to the connection reaching the hub. Wi-Fi speed depends on the device, distance, walls and interference. Test through Ethernet before reporting a connection fault. Our Virgin Media router guide explains the Hub 5 and WiFi Max.
Which minimum download speed applies to M350?
The personalised figure in your order summary applies to your connection. A minimum of 181Mbps to the hub is typical for M350.
Can I leave M350 during the contract?
You can cancel during the 14-day cooling-off period. After that, Virgin normally charges an early termination fee when time remains on the minimum term. Give 30 days’ notice and obtain the final charge before cancelling.
M350 offers more download capacity than M250 without moving to M500. Compare the full 24-month costs of all three packages before ordering.
